Why Arbeidsadvocaat.nl?

We specialize 100% in employment law and termination. That’s all we do. Our attorneys are hyper-specialists, fully up to date on the latest developments in legislation and case law. That edge in knowledge pays off in the best possible results.

Because most labor disputes are not settled in court, but at the negotiating table. We’ll go to court if necessary, but thanks to our many years of experience, we know exactly what the maximum outcome of a case is and how to secure it through a settlement. For employers and employees throughout the Netherlands, at our office or entirely online.

A member of the Netherlands Bar Association and the (closed) specialized associations for labor law.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an employment law attorney cost?

We prefer to work with fixed or maximum fees, such as when we assist you if you’re offered a settlement agreement. That way, you always know where you stand in advance, and in the vast majority of cases, your employer will cover the costs. For cases where the scope is more difficult to predict, our competitive hourly rate applies.

What happens after the free initial consultation?

During the intake interview, we’ll go over your situation and let you know if and how we can help you, as well as what it will cost. Then it’s up to you: we won’t get to work for you until you hire us. So you’re not tied down to anything.

Does my employer cover the cost of a VSO check?

In 95% of cases, yes. In a settlement agreement, it is customary for the employer to reimburse legal fees, and we include that reimbursement as a standard part of the negotiation. The check won’t cost you anything.

Do you also work entirely online?

Yes. The entire process can be handled online, from the initial consultation to the resolution of your case. We work for clients throughout the Netherlands. Would you prefer to meet in person? You can do that at our offices in Eindhoven and Amsterdam.

Why hire a lawyer instead of a legal advisor?

“Lawyer” (or attorney) is a protected title. Lawyers are required to complete mandatory training and continuing education, are subject to disciplinary rules, and are bound by a legal duty of confidentiality. In addition, liability insurance is required, and only an attorney may represent you in all proceedings, including appeals. With a general legal advisor, you don’t have those safeguards, even though the costs are often comparable. Sometimes a legal advisor is unable or unwilling to go to court or UWV, which can be detrimental to your negotiating position.

Can I hire you through my legal expense insurance?

In many cases, yes. As soon as legal proceedings are necessary, you have the right to choose your own attorney and may select a specialized attorney yourself, with your insurer reimbursing all or part of the costs. We will coordinate this directly with your insurer.

How soon can you take on my case?

We’ll get back to you right away, and you can usually schedule an initial consultation within 24 hours. If it’s urgent—for example, in the case of immediate termination or a deadline in your settlement agreement—we’ll always get in touch with you as soon as possible.
