10 tips for when your employer offers you a settlement agreement
Your employer wants to terminate your employment contract and offers a settlement agreement, also known as a termination agreement, to do so. Then consider these 10 tips:
- Do not sign the agreement immediately.
- Negotiate the first proposal, often there is room to negotiate and you can agree on higher compensation or longer notice.
- Check if your right to Unemployment Compensation (WW) is guaranteed.
- Check that the end date is correct, i.e. that the correct notice period has been observed .
- Check whether the severance pay is reasonable .
- Ill? Don't just agree to the settlement agreement.
- Drop the non-compete and/or non-solicitation clause.
- Consider payment of vacation days and other wage components at final settlement.
- If necessary, ask for support in finding a new job, through outplacement or training budget.
- Engage an attorney or lawyer specializing in employment law.
