What is employee participation?

Employee participation in labor law refers to the extent to which employees have influence over decisions made within an organization that affect their interests. This can include decisions on terms and conditions of employment, working conditions, working hours, reorganizations, and social benefits. Co-determination can be shaped through co-determination bodies such as the works council, but also through individual participation opportunities, consultation structures, and collective bargaining.
