What is unemployment insurance?
Unemployment benefits are a temporary benefit provided by the UWV to employees who become (partially) unemployed. This benefit compensates for the loss of income between jobs. For the first two months, the benefit amounts to 75% of the daily wage; thereafter, it is 70%. The duration of the benefit depends on how much and how long a person has worked, with (currently, in 2025) a maximum of 24 months, or longer if agreed upon in the collective bargaining agreement .
