Working Conditions Act

What is the Working Conditions Act?

The Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) is designed to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for employees. The Arbowet sets requirements for the workplace and working conditions, with the goal of preventing work-related health problems and accidents, and establishes responsibilities for both employers and employees. Among other things, it includes obligations regarding the development of a health and safety policy that complies with legal standards. This includes, for example, identifying and assessing workplace risks, implementing preventive measures, appointing a safety officer and establishing an on-site emergency response team, providing access to an occupational health specialist, and providing appropriate training and instructions to employees. In addition, the Occupational Health and Safety Act plays a role in regulating the role of company physicians and occupational health and safety services, which are responsible for supporting employers and employees in the areas of health and work-related issues.
