Vacation Days Beyond the Legal Requirement

What are vacation days beyond the statutory minimum?

Vacation days exceeding the statutory minimum are additional vacation days granted to an employee beyond the statutory vacation entitlement. These additional days may stem from collective bargaining agreements, company policies, or individual employment contracts, thereby providing employees with greater flexibility and time off beyond the statutory standards. A legal claim for the granting of vacation days expires five years after the last day of the calendar year in which the vacation days were accrued (Article 7:642 of the Dutch Civil Code).
