What is a petition for dissolution?

A request for termination is a request to the subdistrict court to terminate an employment contract. The employer may file a request for termination pursuant to Article 7:671b of the Dutch Civil Code. The subdistrict court will terminate the employment contract only if there is a reasonable ground for termination and if it is not possible to reassign the employee within a reasonable period of time. The exhaustive grounds on which the employer may base the request for termination are set forth in Article 7:669 of the Dutch Civil Code. The employee may also file a request for termination pursuant to Article 7:671c of the Dutch Civil Code. In addition, pursuant to Article 7:686 of the Dutch Civil Code, the employee may also file a request due to the employer’s breach of contract.
