What is a relationship clause?
A non-solicitation clause is a provision in an employment contract that restricts the employee from establishing contact with and maintaining relationships with the employer’s customers, clients, or other business contacts, both during and after the employment relationship. The purpose of a relationship clause is to protect the employer’s competitive position and to prevent the employee from using the knowledge and contacts gained during employment after the employment relationship ends. A non-solicitation clause must meet the same legal requirements as a non-compete clause to be legally valid and may not impose overly broad restrictions.
